Aquilegia 'Blue Jay'

This compact Columbine creates quite an impact in the shade garden producing large, 3” bicolor blue-and-white blossoms with contrasting yellow centers. Part of the Songbird series, its upward-tilted flowers arrive in multiples, the better to show off their vivid coloration. Plants naturalize in woodland and shaded spots. A Proven Winners® variety.

Lacy greens and dancing, late-spring blooms characterize these lovely border plants. Columbines make excellent cut flowers if picked when half open. Grow in full sun or partial shade (required in the South and in western Zones 9 and 10) and average garden soil. Propagation is by seed, so color, while quite reliable, cannot be guaranteed.
