Product Details
With a mature height that’s 2’ shorter than its close relative Hydrangea ‘Limelight,’ compact Hydrangea paniculata Limelight Prime® offers all the same qualities – and more – for smaller spaces. Like its progenitor, Prime® offers a lavish display of greenish white panicle flowers that look cool in summer and shade pink in fall. The blooms are held on sturdy stems, and because this Hydrangea flowers on new growth, the blossoms appear reliably every year no matter how harsh the winter. But Prime® also blossoms earlier than ‘Limelight,’ and offers remarkable hardiness at both ends of the hot/cold spectrum. A classic choice for hedging, layering amid foundation plants, and adding gorgeous flowers to the high summer and late season garden. A Proven Winners®/Color Choice® variety. ‘SMNHPPH’ PP 32,511
Because Paniculata Hydrangeas bloom on new growth, they typically flower normally even if the twigs have been killed back by frost. Plant in a sunny, well-drained spot; some early afternoon shade is beneficial in hot southern regions. Prune in late winter or early spring.
Hydrangea is a valuable genus of some 100 species of shrubs and vines grown for their large and very showy flower heads. Hydrangeas are at their best in summer and fall—a quiet time for most woody plants—and are worth having for that reason alone.
